Common App essay cut off

<p>I was under the impression that the essay would get cut off if it was over 500 words, but I was just reading some topics on here that say "A little over 500 is fine."</p>

<p>Is this true? Or will it get cut off? Because mine is 557 words and that's after I spent hours trying to cut some out and every word in it is absolutely necessary now, unless I'm going to delete an entire paragraph which I don't want to do.</p>

<p>No, it does not get cut off at all because it’s an attachment. A little over 500 is fine, 700 or over is when someone should stop. What will get cut off if you don’t follow the character limit is the extracurricular statement. 557 is fine.</p>
