what does Columbia look for in an essay? most essays I've read are the same formula: i learned a skill and then from it i grew as a person, or i saw this one thing and it changed my life and now i do some sort of community service; really cliche in a sense. do they want you to be creative and break from the norm? what word count do they prefer? also, where can i find essays of kids who got in?

common app essay should be geared for all schools
keep that in mind

i know, i just wanted to get an idea as to what the ivys as a whole want on the common app essay

If you really want to write a great essay, don’t follow a formula, don’t look at other examples, just write about yourself with your own voice
