Common App Essay: Not Uploaded?

I uploaded a document in response to the common app essay prompt, but when I click the "save" button at the top of the page, an error message appears saying that the required upload field is empty, although I am able to click "view document" and see the document I uploaded.

Is this simply an issue with the website's UI that will not prevent me from submitting my application or prevent colleges from seeing my essay? If not, how can I fix the problem so that I can submit the application in full?

I don't know why it won't upload, but can you just cut and paste your essay instead?

That happened to us. Disable your popup blockers. It seemed like I had to disable in two different places, then the essay uploaded.

Also, if you want to keep in italics, etc., convert your essay to pdf before uploading.

missypie, i disabled both my popup blockers, but i still get the error message!

entomom, no, we're not allowed to cut and paste our essays...

i emailed the tech support, and they said they should have it fixed by today, but it's still not working!

I have the same problem. I emailed the support at Commonapp and they said despite the error message, you will be able to send it.

maybe you are saving it under word 2007.....commonapp does recognice documents under the newer microsoft word..or atleast it didnt for me....so try saving it under the older word and try uploading it

when I go to click submit

I get an error message that says it can't save and gives error # 4311/

anyone have similar problem?
