COMMON APP ESSAY QUESTION : looking for some help

<p>Alright, for the personal essay, i realize that they have 6 options for you to choose form</p>

<p>The last option is : Topic of your own choice.</p>

<p>Right now, I am kind of struggling with the other five ( I know which one I want to use but the essay isnt coming out how I would like it to)</p>

<p>I applied ED to Penn and really enjoyed their Write page 217 of your 300 page autobiography essay. I feel its the strongest essay I've written.</p>

<p>I am considering using that as the topic for the option of topic of your own choice but I do have some questions as to if this is a good idea or not</p>

<p>(1) i dont know for sure but i'm guessing that essay is pretty unique to penn, so if i use it, am i at any distinct disadvantage in showing where I've already shown interest in other than their own school. </p>

<p>(2) they give you a lot of options so my guess is that they prefer you dont use the topic of your choice, unless its a killer idea. do you think this qualifies under that</p>

<p>You won't be at a disadvantage for showing an interest in a different school; you'll be at a disadvantage because they'll see it as a 'recycled' essay. That particular prompt is very specific. I honestly don't think they care about which topic you choose otherwise, as long as it is written well and holds their interest. Now, you'd be surprised how many obscure topics fit under the provided headings. What do you have in mind?</p>
