What are some common things besides "why i got this grade in this class" that people write about in the section on the common app where you can add anything else you would like to share?

thanks. bump to some ideas on what i could use that space for!

so my sophmore year i competed in the Jewish Olympics in Austin, Texas and won a Gold Medal for tennis. Is that something worth writing about in the "if you would like to add anything" essay part???

I missed an SAT date because I had a conflist with an EC, so I explained that. I techincally won't have my second semester courses schedules (even though I have them planned out) until after the EA deadline, so I explained that. Longer list of awards along with clarificaitons for somet things. For example, I forgot my placement in a certain competition so I explained the circumstances and the approximate placement. Also, on Caltech's additional info. I expalined my 2 of my 3 science ECs in greater depth because the one sentence worth they give you wasn't really enough room.

If a school is your first choice, you might want to mention this because, as I've been told, schools like to know if theyre you're top choice because they want to get a high yield. This may or may not help, but it's worth it to put it down as long as you don't sound desperate or begging.

Canes12: I'm pretty sure on the CommonApp they want you to self-report college coursework anyways. I'd have to double check, but I'm pretty sure because I'm in the same boat you are. I took college courses and I self-reported and sent transcripts. You may want to check what hte commonapp says, I could be wrong though.

so is the jewish olympics not a good topic to write about? lol

and is it really good to write that a college is your first choice or is that bad bc they might just think you want to get in is what i get the feeling of?
