Common app essay question

for the common app essays, there are many topics you can choose from, and one of them is "topic of your choice."
i was thinking about using my UC essay for my common app essay under the "topic of your choice," but do you guys think that colleges will "look down" on this because i didn't choose any of the other topics?
should i do this or just write a whole new essay w/ one of their predetermined topics?

and if i do a "topic of your choice," when i upload the document, should i write out the topic on the top? or do i not have to mention the topic, just go straight on in w/ the essay?

thanks

I don’t think a college would look down on choosing your own topic as long as it was intriguing and revealed a new dimension of you. If the essay is good enough, they would probably be pleased with your creativity. I would also include the topic at the top just to make sure they are fully aware of what you’re talking about.
