<p>So my essay's opener is about urinals.</p>
<p>It goes somewhere, and does all it needs to do, and it doesn't focus around the idea of urinals... that's just the hook.</p>
<p>I'm wondering if that's too crass, too shocking, for a college essay. If the admissions officer will put it down because of the opening. </p>

<p>in my english class, my teacher read us an essay that a student wrote years ago about testicles and how worthless they were, and guess what? he got into dartmouth (i think) among other great schools. of course, his GPA was also sky high, but the point is that if you do it well it can only help you.</p>
