I know this is super late, but as I'm re-reading my common app main essay (500 words) the topic is starting to sound boring to me. I wrote about planning a big event for my community- and how my perspective changed over the course of the planning. Everyone else's that I've read has much more interesting topics (art, music, life experiences, travel, etc). It's not that my essay is poorly constructed, it's well written and passionate; I'm just scared the topic is not interesting enough.

Often times, admissions officers say that the most mundane topics make the best essays/ Don’t think about the topic, but what you say about it, what it says about you, and how well it’s written.

If you’re really passionate about it, that will shine through the essay, no matter how seemingly “boring” it is. Don’t worry about it. :)

I am editing my CA essay and its about 670 words right now…anyone care to read it and give me some feedback on originality, if its interesting, ect…

Thanks for the feedback guys
@jackwhite77: I’d be happy to read yours! PM it over. I’d be very grateful if you could take a look at mine as well :)
