Common app essay upload

It's another one of those simple questions that come about because you want to do things right. When I look at the PDF version of the common application, it says to include your full name, high school name, and date of birth on the sheet that you will put your essay on. And so I did that; I put all the pertinent information in the header of the document. Yet when I preview my application, the common app electronically generated my name and "Personal Essay Upload" on my sheet so I don't know if I need to put all my information. Maybe because it's electronic all my stuff will be neatly organized and they don't need all the information? Either way, it's not the most important thing.

This question is answered on the Common App site. I gather that if you send the app in on line, you don't need to put in your name, etc., because the site does that for you. If you are printing out the forms and sending your app in hard copy, then yes, put name, etc., on the essays. At least, that's how we interpreted the instructions!

thanks! your reply was very helpful.

Ahhh yes, the joys of sending in the Common App online..... not only is everything a million times simplified, but those edit freaks (me) can get away with submitting everything at 11:59 PM on Dec. 31st :)
