I plan on writing my common app on a influential person. I will talk about my grandmother who for the past six years has been battling with alzheimer's. Would this a good topic?

It has the potential to be a good topic IF it relates something important about you as a person. Make sure it’s about you and not your grandma, because you, not your grandmother, is who the college wants to learn about. Also, if you decide to go forward with this topic, make sure it’s written uniquely and avoids cliches. Take a look at this link - it goes around this forum a lot, and it’s really helpful in explaining how to tackle topics in ways that are not cliche or boring. Good luck!
