I give her a big bear hug, not realizing how much I had missed her during the summer. As I unzip Jesenias princess book bag and take out her books, I remember why I enjoy volunteering so much. Seeing the childrens faces light up when seeing their tutor brings a smile to my face. Even though they live in a shelter and have heartbreaking backgrounds, they nevertheless keep their heads up. Each and every student shows compassion rather than despair, potential rather than defeat. These children truly are an inspiration.
