Hi Everyone!
As you all probably know, the Common App opened a few days ago. I have started filling it out and looking through all the sections and I'm happy to say that I'm not as overwhelmed as It thought I'd be. I quickly found the essay sections and started writing a few drafts. I've worked on the essay for a while now and would love to hear some constructive criticism and improve my essay. If anyone would like to read my essay and offer suggestions, please PM me. I know its not perfect and I do not consider myself an excellent writer so any input will be appreciated.
Thanks!

Sure – PM it to me and I’ll take a look

You’d do best having an English teacher do the review. There are many helpful people here at CC, and no offense to Classof2015, but you really have no idea whether random people who offer to read your essay have fine writing skills or an awareness of what makes a good college essay–worse than that, many people think they write well and really don’t. So keep working on your essay–put it away for a week and come back to it, and you’ll have a much better perspective–and then bring it to the right person at school in September. There’s no reason it has to be finalized in August.

I actually am a writer (having written several novels and screenplays) and I helped quite a few kids last year who gave me positive feedback. I think feedback from a few different sources is valuable, so I would suggest also showing it to your English teacher, but in my experience (having gone through this with my daughter), they focus more on structure, punctuation, grammar, and less on creating a story with a compelling arc that will affect the reader and tell them who you are.

I will read it and give u feedback if you want!

I agree with Classof2015, as long as you choose credible readers who won’t steal your essay, input from another student may be just as valuable if not more. I will read OP’s :)
