this is kind of a stupid question, but for the commonapp essay, are you supposed to send the same essay to all your colleges or a different essay to each?

same to all, that's why the common app is supposed to be useful

and because of that don't mention any specific college on your commonapp essay!

Is it POSSIBLE to submit different essays?

(I'm not talking about the school's supplements here but about the common app main essay)

Unless you start different applications. It's one application, one essay.

(or unless you want to put the second essay in 'additional information,' but I see no reason why you would want to do that).

Actually, that's not correct. You can in fact send different essays to different schools.

Complete the app and send it to School A. That application is now locked and uneditable.

Make a copy of that application (instructions are on the site). It can then be edited. Change your essay and whatever else you want to change. Send this application to School B. That application is now locked and uneditable.

Repeat for however many schools you're applying to.

Yeah I saw the common app && they simply request the same questions in essays.

SKP21> you can mention a specific college but just make you send just that one copy to that particular college and tweak the essay that you're going to send to the others

Renak>>>No question is a stupid question. wink Just a heads up LOL

You can send essays to different schools. For example, you could fill out one application, write an essay for a specific school and select only that school in your colleges list. Then you can copy that application, edit it (write another essay for another school) and send it to that school. And so forth.

Huh, maybe I'm incredibly dense, but I just can't figure out how to copy the application to edit it and send to another college. I even looked through the instructions and help section...
