<p>The essay should be just long enough to make your point, and no longer. Try to do your essay in 200 words. Colleges probably won't say that your essay is over 500 words long and just throw it away. Also, there's lots of stuff on the College Essays forum.</p>

<p>i think a little over is no problem but too much ( like more than 50 words over) might hurt</p>
