This is a stupid question, but I can't find anyone with the answer. Basically, I'm wondering what the deal is with the common app essays and individual school supplements, which all the schools I'm appying to seem to have do the supplements contain essays that the schools want you to write instead of the ones on the common app, or do you do both, or do you just do the common app essays? If the supplements don't contain essays, what's on them? Thanks.

Some school supplements have additional essays that must be done. You still do the common app essays but also do the supplement essays. Some school supplements do not require additional essays but simply want more info, often about intended major, 2nd choices for the department you want to be in, etc.
