Common App "Family Responsibility"

<p>Hi, on the common app under EC's there is a choice for "family responsibility."</p>

<p>In 8th grade my mom passed away and I had to take care of my sister all the way through college since my dad lost his job in 10th grade and we moved across the country in 11th.</p>

<p>Would watching over my sister count as an "EC"? Thanks.</p>

<p>And if it does, what should I fill in for Hours/Week Weeks/Year.</p>

<p>If that is something you’ve spent significant amount of time on, and you think it’s an activity that represents who you are, definitely include it. I think it shows a lot of maturity and willingness to take responsibility. You can estimate the hours as you do for school activities.</p>
