<p>A couple of the schools we are applying to have sent us materials that will waive the app fee. They state if we are using the common app, just select the fee waiver option. So if they suggested that does that mean we meet the requirements? But not all schools sent us this, only 2, so how does this work?</p>

<p>I believe you should only select the fee waiver if the school has specifically stated you can do so. Some schools offer to waive the fees without you ever asking which is great!. However, if you wish to seek a fee waiver from other schools, you would need to call someone there and ask for the fee waiver. Some may agree to do it. Others may require a certain level of financial need before waiving fees. And still others may not waive fees at all. Each school is different and you’ll need to check with each one individually.</p>
<p>That’s what I’m struggling with, Rider has sent us a letter that says to choose the “fee waiver” on the common app. So do just do that when I submit to Rider & then after that go back & uncheck that?</p>
<p>It will ask you for each application you send so don’t worry about it.</p>
<p>I think it will ask whether you have a fee waiver for each school you submit to - so you can choose the fee waiver just for the schools that have offered it.</p>
<p>If you need a fee waiver you should ask your guidance counselor–they handle that and you can get common app fees waived. It’s harder to get audition fees waived although it can’t hurt to contact each school on a case by case basis. If you are on free and reduced lunch that makes the process simplest, but there can be extenuating circumstances of course.</p>

<p>I think you’re talking about schools that waive your application fee, as in you’re a select applicant type of thing, as opposed to a “fee waiver” due to financial reasons. </p>
<p>DD got a couple of them that we used for the Common App, of which Rider was one. I believe that when the payment page showed up, it asked if we had a fee waiver and she chose yes. I also believe that once the school gets the app, they verify that said student was sent an offer for a free app. </p>
<p>Each Common App school asks for payment individually once you get to the “submit” application area.</p>
<p>Yes, I am referring to what sydism is talking about, just a waiver for one school because they sent us a waiver, otherwise we do not qualify for fee waivers.</p>
<p>Our guidance counselor is trying to get in touch w/Rider, but she did think there was an option when payment is submitted. We have submitted some schools & made payments, I don’t remember seeing a waiver option at that point. Our counselor said its different on the common app site than it used to be.</p>
