Hey everyone, so I'm encountering a problem that's keeping me from correctly filling out my Common App. Under the tab regarding languages, it asks for languages that I'm proficient in. For me, English would be the only one applicable (unless you count my 3 years of high school Spanish, which I probably won't). However, Korean was technically my FIRST language, as it was the only language I spoke until age 6. Though, the problem is, I would DEFINITELY not consider myself proficient in Korean now, after not having spoken it for several years now. Also, I feel hesitant to check the box that says English was my first language because I have submitted other applications aside from the Common App in which I stated my first language was Korean. I personally find it illogical on the Common App's part to ask us to only list the languages we're proficient in AND require us to choose one of them as our first language

You can check “first language” but then not check any other (spoken at home, speak, read, write). This should be sufficient to indicate what you want to convey.
