I would be applying ED this year for fall 2017. I started my Common App process. But there were some questions which I couldn’t relate. Like, they asked whether my school follows semester or trimester, but in India exam for 12th standard happen only once in March. There are many such fields which I couldn’t relate to. What should I do? Isn’t there some sort of guide for helping International students fill common app?

@sahil123 If you can’t find the answer, answer to the best of your ability, and attach additional information to your Common App if necessary.
There should be more options than “semester” or “trimester.” Some schools are on a quarterly system, others are year-round, etc.
What other questions do you have?
You should select either, and then in the additional comments section write an explanation of your school’s grading system. They do only offer semester or trimester, but I remember reading a college counselor’s advice that for her kids in a school with an interesting calendar they just wrote the info on the transcript and the additional info.
Contact the EducationUSA Advising Center closest to where you are. They are the experts. EducationUSA is a not-for-profit organization. They might charge some fees for certain services, but those will be very low.
