Common App-General Support Questions

I have a few general questions about the Common App that my counselor was unable to answer. Thanks in advance for any help!

1) Will there be any problems in submitting an essay with italics? Does Common App support this feature? I realize that I could upload an essay with italics and view the print preview, but even if that is fine, will any new problems arise when my application is submitted electronically to a school?

2) Single or Double Space? (Do colleges prefer one over the other?)

3) What personal ID information must we include on our essays? (eg, name in upper right hand corner)

4)In general, I feel like I remember reading something that addressed many of these issues on the Common App. website several months ago, but I am unable to find it now. If anyone recalls this site, please post the link.

Thanks!

1) If you upload it, it should appear exactly as it does in the preview when the school downloads it.
2) There seems to be a lot of debate about this. I may go with 1.5 spaced.
3) Name, School, birthday according to the common app site

i dont know if u have to put name in upper right corner because its being submitted online not paper

someone correct me?

Another question:

5) Neither my friends nor I am able to find the response box for the "How many years have you lived in the US" question on the common app.

Thanks again!

fhg and Redwood, thanks!

fhg-Do you mind posting the link to the site you mentioned? I think that may be the site I am thinking of. Thanks!

Potential, it comes up when you open the PDF version of the essay (I believe), but I think redwood might be right, you may only need it if you submit on paper.

I'm not sure about the years in the US question...

it appears only if you select your citizenship status as 'other'..
What does single and double spaced refer to?
