Common App GPA Error

So here is my dilemma that may or may not be a big deal. I’m hoping you can decide for me.

I noticed I made a mistake on my common app when it asked about GPA. I originally thought my GPA was on a 5.0 scale because I take several honors classes and an A is equivalent to a 5.0. Made sense to me. However, I asked my teacher the other day just to double check for scholarship purposes and he told me it actually is on a 4.0 scale because not everyone takes honors classes. My GPA is weighted though, so I’m not sure how it’s not on a 5.0 scale when students can get above a 4.0.
Regardless, I want my GPA to represent what it really is. Saying that my GPA is on a 5.0 scale probably makes it look worse than it is (It’s about a 3.8 overall). I’ve already been accepted into two colleges, so I’m not sure it is such a big deal.

I’m just wondering if it’s worth it to email the colleges that I will not find out about acceptance until about mid-December about this mistake. They have my official transcript, so they could just look at everything on there and realize the mistake, although it doesn’t say what scale my GPA is on. Should I email them to clear it up or not? I’ve already been accepted into two universities, so it may not be that big of an issue, but the other universities are more competitive to get into, so I just want to be sure.

It’s not a big deal. Your HS sent out a school profile that has the grade scale on it.
