I just finished copy and pasting my essay from Word to the Common App and it looked fine when I saved it, but now that I am going back to review it the Common App has deleted not only my corrections to the spacing issues I had to fix after I pasted it but also all of the spaces between my paragraphs. Is this because I copy and pasted it? I'd rather not retype it myself since I tried to do that originally and when I tried to save it after I finished it brought me back to the log in page.

The spacing mistakes within the paragraph are minimal and only show up when I review it and go away when I go to edit the essay. The spaces between my paragraphs do not show up on the review and do not show up when I go to edit no matter how many lines I put between my paragraphs.

same issue here…very frustrating…i read somewhere that it allows only one paragraph break…really dumb…to allow you to bold print and underline but forbid a paragraph indentation. Anyone have suggestions?

Put two spaces between each paragraph in the text editor like this:

There still won’t be full spaces between the paragraphs in the final version, but this will keep the program from putting everything into one giant block.

(Also, make sure you go through line-by-line and fix all the spacing oddities the program put in your essay…there will probably be quite a few.)
