So I'm entering the information for my parent's educational background -- both of which attended college in China, but as I look at the list of countries, China IS NOT LISTED?! Excuse me commonapp, but... how can you have Taiwan, Thailand, and Hong Kong listed, but forget China? It's kinda staring at you in the face lol.

Has anyone else noticed this problem? It said that if the country was not listed, to simply search for the college, but one of China's most famous universities didn't even come up. I find this kind of insulting, and frustrating.

Am I supposed to just leave the CEEB code part blank?

Haha Cadillac. I ran into a similar problem as you. My parents did attend school in Taiwan (i tried the whole Taiwan thing, but it didn’t work to find my parents’ school because I don’t know how they did the whole romanization of letters, blah blah).

BUT. To solve your problem, you don’t necessarily have to put in a CEEB code, you can just type in the school name in the school name box and just leave the CEEB code space blank. I had a friend who did that last year (her parents went to school in China) and she got into Cornell U, so I doubt she did anything wrong when she did that. I doubt they look that closely into it.

and Ditto on the fact Common App is ridiculous, I don’t like it that much >.< but granted, I don’t really like how much time I have to spend on pulling together applications. sighh

amaster008 gives the correct advice, but that info is listed RIGHT ON THE PAGE WHERE YOU ENTER THAT INFORMATION. To use your words, “It’s kinda staring at you in the face lol.”
