So I just made my common app account, and I’m confused what to put for the language proficiency section. I am a native English speaker, but I have been taking Spanish for 3 years. I have excelled in my classes, and my Spanish teacher said last year that she would consider me at an intermediate level for speaking, reading, and writing. However, I am much more comfortable with writing and reading. For example, I have written job interest letters (kinda like a cover letter, but longer) in Spanish class, written essays about global warming, etc, with very little errors. I also have read books like The Fault in Our Stars in Spanish without much difficulty, but not understanding every single word. I am planing to major in Spanish BTW. So basically I’m just confused what I should put…I may end up just asking my teacher in the fall. Thanks!
intermediate≠proficient
In the parlance of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, proficient would be a C1; 3 years of HS Spanish would at most be B1. The vast majority of students who scored a 5 on the AP Spanish exam would not be considered proficient.

If the second language is spoken at home, should it be listed under language proficiency?
Ok thank you @skieurope! I just wanted to make sure!
Based on that wiki page, I would personally consider myself at the B2 level, but I totally understand how that is not proficient!
If you have a second language at home, you are likely to be proficient at least in listening and speaking.
