I had my whole application complete this weekend, but I was waiting for one teacher recommendation. My Common App was due by December 1st, so I waited as long as possible before I sent it in. I emailed both my teacher and the admissions officer, and they both said that it would be fine if the recommendation is a little late. The recommendation was sent in today. Will the college automatically receive it, or will I have to send it separately?

So long as the recommender was “invited” and “assigned” before you submitted your application, you have nothing to worry about. Schools will be able to download recommendations submitted through common app even if you submitted your application before the recommendation is complete. If the recommendation was completed within a day or two of the deadline, that should not be an issue. Most schools require supplemental materials to be “postmarked” by the deadline. An item arriving electronically a day or two later arrives in time.
