common app online?

so, i was planning on starting my applications in august, and it's already MID-august, so i thought i'd get started :)

i haven't registered at the common app website yet, but how exactly DOES it work? you just fill out everything on the website, enter in the schools you're applying to, and BOOM, you're finished? (other than the various supplementals?)

and if you're sending in extra things like resume(s), portfolios, and the like - you'd just have to send one to every single school you apply to, correct? can any rising college freshman that just went through the process help me out a little bit? :[ it seems so complicated, haha

also: is it preferable to use the college's OWN application (which requires more time and effort...) or just submitting the commonapp? i know a lot of schools have online login id/passwords and "centers" with checklists and whatnot now, with their own system of telling you if you were accepted or not - if you're using the commonapp, do you HAVE to register at the college website?

bumpbumpbumpbumpbump

what does bump mean ( i know its off topic, i was jus curious)

the 1st threads that you see on the forum are the ones that have recently been replied to, so people say bump when they want the thread to go back to being 1st on the list, in hopes that other people will see it and respond.

o awesome, makes sense too
