common app or not

I am applying to the TCNJ 7 year medical program. TCNJ accepts the common app. I am a little paranoid whether the college may look at me as not committed to their college because i did not use their app. The essay questions are completely different

TCNJ: What does it mean to be a member of the community? How do you see yourself at the end of freshman year?

Common App: I'm using topic of my choice.

So, should I use the TCNJ app and write another essay?

I am certainly no expert, but I ask you this: if a college did not want to receive applications via the Common Application, why would they make the overture and state that students may use it instead of their own? The answer, in my mind, is why not! I think you are over analyzing this! Take them for their word: if they say they accept it, they will - period!

"Don't sweat the small stuff!"

i have this absurd but possible theory that the college may accept the common app to weed out potentially non commited students. Please tell me that I am wrong.

You're wrong...

Though my history teacher told a friend of mine to use the JHU own application instead of the Common App. But she's applying ED to JHU so my history teacher thinks using the JHU means you're COMMITTED to JHU. But it's ED. That's somewhat understandable thinking.

Are you applying TCNJ ED or RD?

I'm applying RD but I am applying to the 7 year med program where 30 out of 120 get in (after 2 grueling interviews).

Ouch. That's 25% acceptance rate... I'm sure they won't mind if you use Common App. It may depend more on which essay you feel comfortable using. Of course the TCNJ requires more research on your part about what freshmen year will be like at TCNJ. G'luck.
