Common app or princeton app?

i know some ppl say it's better to use the school's app, but just curious... which one are you guys using?

oh, would it be ok to have princeton app recs and school reports but send common app w/ the supplement?

I'm using common app. One less essay to write!

common app all the way

I'm a junior right now, but I'd base my decision on the individual essay topics. I'd probably use the common app just because I'd be using it for my first choice school, so it'll be as polished as possible anyway hopefully.

lizzardfire: I believe that you have to write the same number of essays regardless of what application you use. You might want to recheck the requirements.

pton apps, more personalized :)

lizzardfire prob means that s/he already has the common app essay done

common essay allows you to do any essay of your choice. If you have done any other college apps, you can reuse one. I guess I should have clarified that...

Slackah- "he" :P

i did Pton app, I didn't like common app essays, and Pton app is more personalized like jones said. I dont think ONE essay under 500 words can express my personality well enough, so I went with Pton app.

Kiteboard, do whatever you want, but the common app and the princeton app have the same number of essays. You know how on the princeton app you do 3 essays, one long, two short, from their topics? On the common app essay you also do three; one long (anything you want) and two short, from princeton's topics (in the supplement). So theoretically you could use a princeton topic for the common app essay if you so desired, thus the essays are exactly the same with the only difference being that the common app has greater freedom.

I liked the other questions too, with all of the favorites... not sure if supplement has it... If it does then I stand corrected and take a neutral stance on the subject.

I used Princeton's paper app. I guess I'm just a traditional kind of gal.

What if I use the Princeton app, but my teachers and counselor send the common apps? Is that allowed?

what if we're the opposite; teacher/secondary school report = princeton and we want to send common?

yup -- 'tis allowed i believe

KingsFan0421, was that directed at me or running, or both?

^ how's that for a fast response!! [both]

haha, sweet (isn't ESP like an auto-admit hook or something?)

yeah, I was wondering that too . . . Can you mix and match teacher CommApp recommendations and Princeton's own app?

I think you can use parts from each application as long as your final application is complete. If you send the Princeton Application for your part, but ask your teachers to fill in the common application only once, I'm sure the school will understand. The nice thing about doing the Princeton App is that it lets more of your personality shine through, so if you can do your part for it, then go for it :)
