Does it make a difference which one I use?

Also, what do people normally put for the optional "What else would you like us to know?" form; is it to explain a disadvantaged background, special circumstances, or can we submit an extra college essay? I know it's an open form, but I'd still like to know what it's generally used for.

Thanks!

It makes no difference whatever.

I was talking with an admissions officer last night at an event and he said that 95% of people use the common app and it makes absolutely no difference.

As for the additional information, it can be used to explain circumstances that caused you to get bad grades or whatever, something you couldn't fit in other places, or just an interesting tidbit, but I would probably not just write another essay.

I really don't think it matters...I'm using the Princeton app because it's easier to use than the commonapp (I think anyway...)

What I've heard about this is, they want to get the best class possible, so why would they offer both and then discriminate against someone for using one application or the other?
