Do colleges value their supplement questions more than the Common application essay?

I’ve always thought of it like admissions officers just consider the Common App essay to be one of the X essays they have to read. However, the supplement questions may probe to find out something specific about you that will show how you will fit in and contribute to their campus. The CA is what you want to say to all the schools you’re applying to; the supplements are you pouring your heart out directly to one school.

So you can’t, like, mess up the Common App and expect them to overlook it for the supplements, or vice versa. But yeah, I think colleges do value their supplements more.
