So my both my parents are married, but my jobless father left the house my freshman year in order to look for work and only comes back a couple times a year if I'm lucky, but his permanent address is still the same as mine since he has no permanent elsewhere while he travels around taking odd jobs here and there.
When the common app asks me who I live with, should I put that I live with just my mother or that I live with both? I do not know what is considered "living with" anymore since I rarely see him at all. I'm just afraid that the admissions offices will think that it's just some sort of error and not know the entire background story.

Your residency is at their house no matter where your father is. His residence is your mother’s and your residence.

He is your father, so his income will have a role to play in your financial aid.

It’s just that I am also applying via QuestBridge, but in the QuestBridge application I put that I only lived with my father until my freshman year, since there was a section on the bottom to expound on my situation, but since the QuestBridge College Match process usually requires that I submit a common app for each college, I am afraid that the difference across the QuestBridge and Common app regarding parent residency may cause some problems when the admissions view both at the same time, and I don’t want them to think I was lying on one application or the other.

I can’t help you with this, but somebody else can. I just don’t know QB.

Thank you for clearing up the Common App stuff though!
