I had posted my essay in this thread, but I just read the sticky saying that it is a bad idea to post essays on here, for the reason of plagiarism. I probably should have thought that through - sorry.
If anyone would like to proofread my essay (in exchange, I’ll proofread yours), comment below, and I’d be glad to send it to you! Sorry for the mix-up.
I don’t know about the rest, but I would take out the part about “My parents will proofread this essay” and maybe change it to something just about cleaning your room. That seems like a red flag to me.

@peytonmg I asked my lit teacher about it this morning, and he says that it adds a good touch of humor. (The admissions officers know, he says, that any good essay is going to be proofread by a kid’s parents.)
Thanks for the advice, though. When you say you “don’t know about the rest”, do you mean that in a negative manner, or are you saying you just didn’t read it? I’m open to any other suggestions you might have.

I simply meant that since I’m applying this year myself, I’m not sure if my advice would be very valuable to you. I would definitely take any advice from your teacher over what I said, though, of course. Maybe it just seemed strange to me because I’m trying to keep my parents out of this process as much as possible and therefore would be irritated if they looked at my essay.
Ah, okay - I understand what you mean. I’ve gotten a lot of my own friends to proofread my essay, though, and some of them have actually raised some very good points.
