Common app says one essay should go to every college that I am applying to
is this absolute?
I must do this?
Or could i tweak so that i an submit different essays for different schools?
would i get in trouble for it?

im sorry if this is a stupid question but plz take time to answer :)
thank you

No tweaking. Your common app essay, or your personal statement, goes to every school. Make sure it’s the best reflection of you and don’t cater to a specific school. You can do that for their supplements.

The common app essay goes to EVERY college, and you cannot tweak the rules. DO NOT try to change it or you could get in trouble/your application could be voided.

Some colleges will have supplementary essays along with the common app one if they want personalized essays. But the common app one is the same writing for all colleges. No exceptions.

Are we allowed to submit different components of the Application (not the essay)? Such as Future Plans, or Activities (for example).

It seems to ask us to submit each one again and again for each college/university we’d like to apply to… why wouldn’t they just let us fill it all in once, and send whichever parts each specific college/university wants?
Does this mean that we can alter them between applications?

Hm…last year, the Common App allowed for different versions to be submitted for different schools. Have you all read the instructions and FAQs on the Common App website to determine whether this has changed?
