Hey guys!

So under the writing supplement for USC there are all these little slots to enter 9th grade english and math courses, then 10th, then etc etc. I haven't filled in anything for these but they are checked off in my common app.

My question is are these even necessary to fill out since they will receive a copy of my transcript from my counselor? Or should I still fill it in?

Thanks for any help?

Whoops! I meant to say help! not help?

I would fill them in regardless. I was wondering the same thing when I applied, but figured they must be there for a purpose. It’s annoying to fill out, but I would do it anyway!

First rule of college paperwork: engage in all redundancies. Leave nothing to chance. There is probably a VP for check boxes and a VP for boxes-you-must-fill-manually. And they don’t talk to one another. Probably in separate buildings. A pencil pusher will never chide you for providing too much information, but they will for providing not enough.

If they ask the questions, you should fill them out. They probably use them to calculate a GPA so they are uniform across all applicants.

Fill out everything they ask. They look to transcripts to confirm what you specified. Do not make it harder for adcoms.

If you choose not to, then expect not to be admitted.

Think of it this way, you write a research paper. You include everything in it, right? You don’t send a separate sheet of details to make your case. You include everything in your paper, then footnotes.

Thanks everyone :)
