Hey all, general question about the logistics involved with the common app. Im guessing it will vary by school, but in general does the common app prompt me for my recommendation letters? Or do I have to mail them in? Or do I put the recommenders email and then the school asks them for it? How does it work exactly?
The reason I ask is because I would like to ask my instructors soon so they have time to prepare as I am sure they are very busy. And I want to let them know if they should expect an email from common app, or the school, or if Ill need an electronic and hard copy to mail myself. This is my first rodeo and im super confused @_@
Hey there. I’m not sure if the Common App has changed recently, but when I applied to USC last year, they asked me to add instructors and that they would email a link to that instructor. Definitely keep in contact with your professor about whether or not they even get the email though! I wanted my anthro/ling professor to write me a letter, but she didn’t get it at her West LA email, her LA City College email - it was so weird. She managed to finally see the email with her Pierce College email address. Also, the Common App is neat in that it tells you if the professor actually wrote the letter of recommendation Mine actually never did =\ but it’s cool to have.
