I have a "laundry" list of ECs that did not fit in the slots on the standard APP. There is room for "Additional Information" at the end of the Common App, and I was wondering if it is normal practice to include this "list" in there, or should I leave them out as they are not as significant as my other ECs.

If I should leave these extra curricular activities out, what kind of things DO go in this category?

Can you GROUP the EC's? That's what my daughter did -- for example, instead of listing every different office she had held, she had something like "Student Gov, inc. (list of offices held, also abbreviated)". She also chose to submit the paper version of the common app, as I think that gave her more flexibility as to what she could write into the spaces.

She ALSO attached a supplemental list, but only for her most important activity, not for everything. And there were things she simply left off for lack of space -- note that most college apps ask that the activities be listed in the order of importance, and last year's common app also had a short-answer question that asked which activity was most important & why.

In addition to what calmom said, you certainly can use the Additional Info section of the Common App for activities/awards etc. that don't fit in their "boxes". If you've been through the whole app and previewed it online, you will see that some of that happens automatically.

Just looked at S2's 2005-06 common app. He used the short answer to expound on activities where the checked columns didn't adequately explain his level of participation.
