I'm planning to apply to gtown under RD, and I'm just wandering if I could substitute the Gtown teacher/cousellor recs with the more widely used Common app recs? I find that both types contain almost the exact same content and questions. By using the common app recs, it could save my teachers a lot of work. Is this practice allowed at Georgetown? (I know that several other schools like JHU do accept common app recs submitted with their own school recs) Thanks a bunch for your input!:)

I don't think Georgetown accepts the common app. if you inserted the common app recs it would be tipoff that Gtown really wasn't one of your top choices.

anyone else can elaborate on that? thanks a bunch

I'd agree, don't submit the common app recs, take the little extra time to give your teachers the georgetown one, it sends the adcoms a much better message.

georgetown isn't under the list of colleges that use the common app. [the list is on the common app's site]. you shouldn't use it. it's not a wise idea.

If all you would use is the teacher rec form, then it's acceptable and not unheard of. I don't think it would hurt to include a short note as to why you're using the Common App form. However, if it's sheer laziness on your part and not a concern about the teachers' workloads (and ability to meet the deadline), suck it up and use Georgetown's forms.
