common app has been a pain in the butt for me; i wanna graduate from college and start my own application organization someday.

newayz..

is it a good idea to explain in the award section what an award is about, if it's not self-explanatory, fairly prestigious but unheard of? (yes this is paradoxical but such awards do exist)

is it better to explain in the app situations that have hindered you from doing something you'd otherwise have done, or let your counselor do that?

i was going to ask my counselor but apparently he's out of town...yes at this time of the year.

thanks in advance to anyone who can give me an answer :)

have your counsellor do it. this stuff is the reason why colleges even bother getting a counsellor rec.

thanks venkater

can anyone answer the first question? i know it's trivial, but i wanna get some input from people since i somtimtes have no common sense..

Yeah, I think it's fine to explain an award whose details might not be obvious.

Is it acceptable to write an additional and pertinent essay in the additional information section? I want to explain why I am only playing football in my senior year. In that case, I will move my explained extracurriculars to the individual school's supplement. Acceptable?

Yes, that is why that space is given.
