Common App/Recommendation

My son just submitted his common app to UVA EA tonight and realized that in the common app "school forms", the name of the teacher who was supposed to give him recommendation is different. My son only asked his English teacher to write the rec. and it was already mailed to UVA a week ago. Now the one showing in the common app is his science teacher's name. This is very confusing. My son didn't ask the science teacher for recom. then why his name is there? is that mean there are 2 recom. being sent to UVA? Is it okay to have two since UVA only needs one?
Does anyone have this experience?

Thanks.

No problem. Don’t worry about it.

If he’s really worried, he can hit the “help” button on any page of the Common App website and ask them about what is happening with the science teacher’s rec.

Thanks Dean J.
One more question if you can help. My son just checked his UVA application status, and there is a college transcript pending on his “to do List” and says due on 11/10. We checked back the common app, we think it must be refering to the items regarding the college course that he is taking now held at his high school. He is currently taking it and won’t be able to get a transcript by 11/10, becuase he hasn’t finish the course yet. He aslo put a note in the common app and explained that no credit available. We are not sure why UVA is requesting this transcript, and we don’t even think UVA will accept this credits from this local community college. can you please advise? Would the request be removed by UVA? so my son’s application be comelete without any confusion.

Thank you.

I’ve addressed this one before. Our system automatically looks for a transcript from any school a students lists as having attended. DE work that is on the HS transcript shouldn’t prompt a student to list a college under other schools attended. Text on the Common App won’t override the data…the computer sees a school listed and wants a transcript from it. I realize that Common App allows students to select a “no transcript” option, but we were not able to adjust our system for that. No worries. There’s a simple fix.

Your son can write to uvaapplicationinfo@virginia.edu to request removal of the checklist items. :)
