Common App Recommendations

On the common app you invite teachers to apply - do you need to do this individually for each school? (As in invite teachers/couns, and then put in all that info)

Also, when the recs are sent, are they online/electronic as many schools are? Just wondering if I still need to give em envelopes or whatever

Hm, what I'm doing is just giving the envelopes and recommendation form (printed out) to the teacher. They seem to like it better that way.

how do you print the counselor form? apparently my school cant do the electronic transcripts.

Ok, so as you know, you have to submit Teacher Recommendations, School Forms, Mid-Year Forms. However, although you apply online for commonapp, teachers prefer that you give them paper forms. Thus, instead of using the online "school form invite" option, you have to download the forms. Now, colleges say that, if you are using the paper version, you should make sure your commonapp id is at the bottom of the page (without it, your form is void).

Well there's a problem. When you go to download forms on the commonapp website, it only lets you do this when you're logged out. So, as you download forms, your ID doesn't appear anywhere. And, I don't think you can just write your ID in pen at the bottom. What do we do?

^^I just went to school forms and hit the button for teacher recs and it gave a pdf without any hassle. It had the id # and everything.

where...whats the link?

You log in first and then go to the forms listed on the left

19921992 --Where did you see that colleges won't accept the recs without a number? I've never seen that before

^ They WILL accept it - but it might take them 3 secs less to process it. It really doesn't matter as long as you put your correct name, etc

K. But do I need to submit my teachers' names and emails on the 'School Forms' page?

hello5...where are the forms on the left?

Also, this was in the Stanford Commonapp Instructions.

@posuer: yes you don't have to send your teachers an email, you can go to the left hand side tool bar and click on school forms and d/l teacher recs, counselor rec + secondary school forms in a pdf file with your profile info on it. some schools that use the naviance service are able to submit teacher recs and school reports online saving you hassle, but ive heard some teachers prefer paper forms so im goin to ask my teachers once school starts

@19921992: you can go to the left hand side tool bar and click on school forms and d/l teacher recs, counselor rec + secondary school forms in a pdf file with your profile info on it. this is the place with like my colleges writing, and the submit just look down towards the bottom.

Hope that helps

NO it clearly says in the instructions without the common app id your forms will be void, please read the instructions before giving advice

My guidance counselor, quite obviously displeased, called me up the other day because I had sent her an online invitation. She suggested that I print out the counselor form and give it to her on the first day of school. Now, the problem with this is that I cannot seem to locate it. Help?

^^ Look at the left hand side with the my colleges writing and stuff there is a tool bar at the bottom there is a thing for school forms go to it and it has all the stuff you need.

I looked there, but it gives me no option to print anything.

^^Click on the form with secondary school report and it will d/l a pdf and then u print the pdf

where are u talking about vasudevank....i dont see it either

Yeah I don't see it either. Someone needs to post better instructions because the only option I have under school forms is invite official and the whole point of this thread is to get away from the online. I think vasudevank means you can print a pdf after you invite an official.

maybe thats why, i don't have invite school official. I have your counselor can submit these forms online, but if you would like you can print them out. My school uses naviance for its stuff so maybe thats why.

Your colleges that are on your application list will appear along with School Forms on the left.
Click on school forms and teacher recs 1 and 2 will come up with your printed info and ID #
You probably have to have started the app. process for the info to appear.
