Common App Recommendations

Which part do you have to start, exactly? I'm already halfway through (finished "Family" portion) but the forms to print still do not show up under "School Forms". The only option there is to invite teacher/counselor.

Is anyone else's ID on the TE form really badly formatted? It's sort of bothering me...

I'm sorry, but I still can't get to the teacher evaluation forms when I'm logged in. Can someone post intructions that are a bit more detailed?

yeah i dont see it lol

Fill in in all of your personal info like name school and everything ok

You don't have to fill out the writing parts, but basically have everything else done.

Go to the tool bar on the side that lists various tasks and pages. Go to the "school forms" button and click on it

Once you go inside that there should be secondary school report, mid-year school report, teacher evaluation 1, teacher evaluation 2. If you click on it then it should pop up a pdf with your name and id# filled out.

Can't get much clearer than that.

We don't have that man. Maybe it's depends on the school. What's your school name (i'll try using that in a test account).

Otherwise, we just see the invite option

Everything's filled out but still no forms to print out.

Where do you find the CommonApp ID? Does it even give you one?

Oregon Episcopal School

yup, it depends on the school. When I put Oregon Episcopal School like vasundevank, the forms came up.

Wait a minute, so if your school does not have the option to print out forms with the ID, what do you do? Do your recommendations automatically become void no matter what?

so..i've read thru all the threads about how you submit teacher's recs letter, but i still dont seem to get it. my way of understanding is that we print out the forms ourselves and give it to our teachers. when they finish filling them out, they will send them directly to the colleges with our transcripts and stuff. is that right? if so, how do i make sure the one i printed out is valid?(some ppl say that there must be a commonapp id and name on it for it to be accepted)...i hope u could help me out with this..thanks in advance

I'm having the same problem.

I sent an email to the CommonApp help desk.

If all fails, I'm just going to print out the CommonApp evaluation form and just go with it without the ID.

I don't even know where it says that we have to have it...

Every HS has a different procedure for sending out recs but sometimes the teachers will have a way they prefer to do it. Many will just attach a letter of rec to the form. I haven't heard of any schools (other than Stanford) not accepting the formwithout the ID#. I would think the most important piece is getting the form, letter, whatever to your college. I would check with your HS guidance dept or the college itself.

To get the recommendation forms, go to the front page of the common app website, but dont log in. On top you will see "Download Forms" and everything you need will be on there.

Yeah, you don't need the Common Application ID at the bottom, according to an email the CommonApp help desk sent me.

it only says Teacher Evaluation 1 on the bottom, dont you need a #2 for the 2nd recommendation?

I think we give TE1 to both teachers.

Can I send one rec online and one by paper?

NO.

Someone on another forum found this:

<a href="http://s3.parature.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=325%5B/url%5D">http://s3.parature.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=325</a></p>

"All online / all offline
The recommendation process is either all online or all offline.* The admissions offices do not want to receive the form online, then receive paper evaluations and transcripts on paper.* If there is a part of the online process that the counselor/teacher cannot do, the only choice is to opt out and do the form on paper."

Your link is broken...

What a weird situation :S.

(I'm applying only next year, in case you're wondering why I'm not panicking)
