Hi everyone,
I submitted my transfer common app to USC with an uploaded resume tailored to them (just by writing “…seeking admission in to USC” in objective). I didn’t realize that the first submission was for all colleges - I assumed I’d be able to tailor the resume to each college like we do in the program materials and when applying to different companies for jobs. Y’all think it’s worth reaching out to all the other schools I’m applying to? I think I have a good shot at being accepted everywhere I apply (barring this mistake) and USC isn’t one of my top schools. USC is the only app I’ve submitted so far.
Appreciate any feedback. And best of luck to everyone else applying out there!
I also titled the document LastNameResumeUSC.
I think it would be worth reaching out to the other colleges if they can see the “…seeking admission to USC” in the objective
Ha, I was JUST reading Anthony Davis’ comment about potentially going to Boston. : )
The objective is a section within my resume (a pdf doc), so it’ll definitely be seen if they open it. Thanks for the reply!
If you reach out it will point out the mistake, all doubt will be removed. Perhaps it wasn’t noticed.
They might not even look at the resume.
And hopefully you get into USC and it’s a moot question.
But who knows.
I think they are less concerned with yield at the transfer level. If you are super qualified and a good fit they’ll probably overlook the mistake.
However, I would be very open to hearing other perspectives.
And @Hanna and @Sally_Rubenstone would be the voices I would consult.
