<p>The common app will likely be the same. If not, you could always use an old essay as a "topic of your choice"
Chicago will defintely change.</p>
<p>I don't know about the other schools. Some have essays that they will likely keep forever (Johns Hopkins), others change them every year (Chicago).</p>
<p>Well, in the case of Chicago you could always do the prompt that allows you to make up your own.</p>

<p>sorry, so for the "topic of your choice" prompt, do schools prefer a given prompt over "topic of your choice"?</p>
<p>I wouldn't say that, I think the prompt at most places doesn't matter an incredible amount, and if you create your own they will not penalize you; what really matters is the essay that follows that prompt, if you know what I mean.</p>
