I was applying for spring transfer to Rice and a couple other schools. Rice was the first one so I put a lot of work into it and today I finished with only hours to spare before the due date. Last year(at least freshmen could) they allowed people to send one app to one college then edit(I believe) and send to another college. So, I wrote my commonapp essay with some references to Rice. As it turns out. They changed their policy. Once its submitted, it can't be edited... ever. Now I'm screwed. No way can I remove all the rice references and cobble together the pieces and make an essay that is good enough to entrust the fate of the rest of my colleges on.

So, I have to sacrifice Rice based purely on commonapp policy. You may be asking "How come you didn't know this before?" Well, I've looked all over the website and the only place to find this info is when you press submit and by the time I did that it was too late.

Not only did this policy screw me but its also unfair. Person A applies to college X and college Y. Person B applies to just college Y. Y is due 11/1 and X is due 10/20. Now for no apparent reason person B gets more time to write the commonapp essay and hence an advantage with college Y for no apparent reason.

I've been denied by 14 colleges this year and went into a deep depression because of it. I moved through it and finally a light at the end of the tunnel and some stupid commonapp policy ruins it.
