but I just wanted to make sure
on the common application when it says "summer of" does that mean the summer before or after the grade indicated?
For example, this past summer (the summer between 11th and 12th grade) I was conducting research. Would this activity be indicated as summer of 11th grade or summer of 12th grade?

<p>That’s a good question! I would think the “summer of” would be the summer before that grade you are about to enter. The reason for that, is you wouldn’t say the summer after you graduated HS was the summer of 12th grade, because you are already a HS graduate at that point.</p>
