<p>I am puzzled by the common app short answer. It says 'fewer than 150 words' but allocates 1500 characters, which gives about 500 words. </p>

<p>Originally I had also limited my short answer essay to 150 words, but now I realize that there's no point to. Just make sure it doesn't go over, say, 200, otherwise it becomes apparent that you're way over the limit. Mine is at like 170 now.</p>
<p>Follow what the short answer says. Try making the essay concise and few than 150 words.</p>
