Common app.. stupid questions?

sorry but i have no idea about any thing when it comes to college applications. i noticed that the common app essays are the same..

Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.

Discuss some issue of personal, local, national, or international concern and its importance to you.

Indicate a person who has had a significant influence on you, and describe that influence.

Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain that influence.

A range of academic interests, personal perspectives, and life experiences adds much to the educational mix. Given your personal background, describe an experience that illustrates what you would bring to the diversity in a college community, or an encounter that demonstrated the importance of diversity to you.

Topic of your choice.

so what are the word limits lol?

Yes, that what makes it common. You fill in one application, and send it to all the schools that accept the common app.

There's no exact word limit, but the ideal is 500 words or fewer. If there is a word limit, which some colleges might have on their supplements, don't go beyond that. Follow directions.

General rule of thumb is to keep the essay to 1 page (and no, you shouldn't make the margins tiny and use microscopic font to squeeze it all in ;))
