My son submitted his Common App on November 30th, but he just received an email today from the UVa Admissions office reminding him that "time is running out" and he should submit his application.

He has not received notification of submission at all - is this common? What should he be expecting from them? We have submitted the fee and I know the Guidance Office has submitted his transcripts as well.

Your son needs to do two things:
a) look at his Common App account and verify that all parts of the application were submitted (basic, payment, supplement)
b) log into UVa's student self-service to look at his checklist to look at what items are still outstanding

If everything is submitted and all items have been taken off the checklist, relax. It's just a newsletter type email that goes out periodically and perhaps the last email list was generated before he hit submit.

I got the same email and my application has been in since September. I checked the to do list on my UVA account & all that is outstanding is mid-year grades. I think it is a general email.

My daughter received the same email. When I checked her status at the UVA student portal it reflected missing transcript and the mid-year grades. Transcript due Jan 3 while mid-year form/transcript due Feb 15. I am certain the guidance counselor submitted but will have her do so again.
