I didn't know the supplemental essays were optional until this morning. I realized that I have already submitted my common app and paid my money without my supplement (Gray bars mean hand- in hand, I know! But I didn't realize its importance, bah!). Is it too late to submit my supplement days after I submitted my common app? Also, my free day "essay" is a piece of artwork, and it will probably take a couple of days to arrive at Baltimore. Will admission officers start evaluating my application without my supplement? =(

i think hand in hand means they dont start looking at it until they have both parts. you should be fine, but you might want to call or find AdmissionsDaniel.

supplemental essays are optional, but the supplement to the Common App itself is not optional. i really don't think they'll start evaluating your app without supplement.

Since Hopkins is a Hand-in-Hand school for the Common App this year, we will not start to process your application until you have submitted both the Common App and the Hopkins supplement.

That is correct -- your application is incomplete until you submit the Hopkins supplement. You should do it soon. As far as the artwork, send it in and it will be passed along with your application for review.

The counselors have just started working on RD review, so there is enough time to get everything in, processed, and filed before decisions are made.
