common app supplement BIG PROBLEM

so i submitted my yale application with plenty of time... but i have a huge problem.

on the supplemental second essay, i used an ellipsis ("...") in the SECOND SENTENCE OF MY FIRST PARAGRAPH. so it's right at the beginning.

anyway, i went through and fixed all the smart quotes, like the common app website instructs. except, apparently the ellipsis is a problem as well, and after i submitted the suplement i saw that the website changed the ellipsis to an ampersand ("&"). which makes absolutely NO SENSE in the context of my essay. and it's right at the beginning.

WHAT DO I DO???

i e-mailed the commonapp people, and they haven't gotten back to me yet... but seriously, help?

there is NO CHANCE of admittance at yale with the "&"... it seriously does not make sense.

can i change it, even though the deadline has passed????

please help.

If you feel that it's necessary, e-mail yale's adcom. I don't think they'll have a problem with it, even though it's a bit of a hassle.

see my answer in the earlier thread.

Its a common problem, it occurs when you copy and paste into the text field. They do understand that you did not intentionally put a &.

Don't worry

wouldn't you see this in the print preview? now i'm worried that it did this without me knowing...

whew. i'm calm now haha

i'm going to call the office tomorrow and see if i can get it changed (if i can't, hopefully they'll know what i meant).

arp, i seriously did not see it in my print preview, but maybe i was just blind? idk... good luck

Just for kicks, tell us what the sentence was. :)

It is trite, overused (and even sung about), but it is true... life is a highway.

which read:

It is trite, overused (and even sung about), but it is true& life is a highway.

ps i know it sounds lame, but it gets better.
